Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 10, Verse 11
Out of mere compassion for them, I, abiding in their hearts, destroy the darkness in them born of ignorance, by the luminous lamp of knowledge.
This real compassion works by removing something, the darkness of not knowing, rather than adding something new.
Living inside the very heart it's reaching into is described as what makes this help so direct and immediate. Nothing has to travel from far away to arrive.
