Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 14, Verse 26

And he who serves Me with an unswerving devotion, he, going beyond the Gunas, is fitted for becoming Brahman.

Devotion is named here as the real, direct route past everything just described about the three forces.

After a long explanation of how the guṇas bind and shape behavior, Krishna offers one real way through all of it, unalloyed devotion. Real simplicity follows real complexity.
