Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 14, Verse 7

Know Rajas to be of the nature of passion, giving rise to thirst and attachment; it binds fast, O son of Kunti, the embodied one, by attachment to action.

This force is named here as running on real, restless desire, always reaching for more.

Rajas is described plainly as arising from worldly craving and tying the soul to outcomes it keeps chasing. Real motion, without real rest, is the picture given.
