Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 2, Verse 22

Even as a man casts off worn-out clothes and puts on others which are new, so the embodied self casts off worn-out bodies and enters into others which are new.

Just like changing clothes. The soul just changes bodies.

Whoever changes their clothes doesn't become someone else in the process - the soul moving on to a new body works the same way.
