Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 2, Verse 29

Some look upon the Self as marvellous. Others speak of it as wonderful. Others again hear of it as a wonder. And still others, though hearing, do not understand it at all.

The soul is the kind of thing some people glimpse, some describe, some hear about, and some never manage to grasp at all.

Understanding the soul isn't guaranteed just by hearing about it. It takes real readiness, and even wise teachers stay patient knowing most people won't get there right away.
