Swallowing all the worlds on every side with Your flaming mouths, You are licking Your lips. Your fierce rays, filling the whole world with radiance, are burning, O Vishnu!

Nothing about this destruction is described as distant or abstract, it's named as active and immediate.

Fiery tongues consuming beings on all sides makes this a real, ongoing event, not a future possibility. The universe itself is shown caught directly inside it.
