Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 12, Verse 10

If also you are unable to practise Abhyâsa, be you intent on doing actions for My sake. Even by doing actions for My sake, you shall attain perfection.

The path keeps adjusting here, offering something real and doable at every level of readiness.

Even ordinary work, done with the right intention, is named as a genuine step toward the same goal. Nothing about this ladder skips over people who aren't ready for the harder rungs.
