Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 12, Verse 3-4

But those also, who worship the Imperishable, the Indefinable, the Unmanifested, the Omnipresent, the Unthinkable, the Unchangeable, the Immovable, the Eternal, having subdued all the senses, even-minded everywhere, engaged in the welfare of all beings, verily, they reach only Myself.

Even the harder, more abstract path is still described here as real and genuinely capable of reaching the same goal, and what it actually requires looks similar to the other path in the end.

Krishna doesn't dismiss those drawn to the formless, unchanging aspect of truth, he affirms they arrive too. Even worded so differently, this formless path still asks for real self-restraint and real concern for others' welfare, overlapping more than the two paths might first suggest.
