Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 18, Verse 34
But the fortitude by which one regulates one's mind to Dharma, desire and wealth, desirous of the fruit of each from attachment, that fortitude, O Pârtha, is Râjasika.
This same real quality, determination, is shown here running on a completely different fuel, attachment and desire for reward.
Krishna doesn't dismiss this kind of resolve as weak, he names its actual source as attachment rather than discipline. Real determination and real attachment are shown coexisting, not canceling each other out.
