Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 18, Verse 56

Even doing all actions always, taking refuge in Me, by My grace he attains to the eternal, immutable State.

Real refuge here doesn't require stepping away from ordinary action, it's described as compatible with staying fully engaged.

Krishna doesn't ask devotees to withdraw from their actual lives, he names full refuge as something carried through everyday activity. Real devotion and real, ongoing engagement are shown together.
