Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 2, Verse 45
The Vedas deal with the three Gunas. Be free, O Arjuna, from the triad of the Gunas, free from the pairs of opposites, ever-balanced, free from the thought of getting and keeping, and established in the Self.
Don't just play within the rules of this world. Aim to rise above the whole game.
Krishna isn't dismissing scripture here, he's pointing past its starting point. Most guidance meets people where they are, gradually moving them toward something deeper. This verse is an invitation to head straight for that deeper thing instead of stopping at the first stage.
