Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 5, Verse 1

Arjuna said: Renunciation of action, O Krishna, you commend, and again, its performance. Which is the better one of these? Do you tell me decisively.

Arjuna wants a straight answer: between stepping back and staying engaged, which one is actually the better path?

This is a genuinely fair question after everything Krishna has said so far. Both renunciation and engaged action have been praised in different moments, and Arjuna, reasonably, wants to know which one to actually follow, not just admire both from a distance.
