Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 5, Verse 2

The Deity said: Both renunciation and performance of action lead to freedom: of these, performance of action is superior to the renunciation of action.

Both paths genuinely work. One of them just tends to be the steadier, safer route to actually get there.

Krishna doesn't dismiss renunciation, he affirms it works too. But he's direct about which one holds up better in practice, staying engaged with real responsibility tends to be more stable than stepping away before someone's actually ready to.
