Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 7, Verse 14

Verily, this divine illusion of Mine, constituted of the Gunas, is difficult to cross over; those who devote themselves to Me alone, cross over this illusion.

The way through this difficulty isn't more personal effort, it's surrender.

Krishna doesn't minimize how hard this is to get past alone. He offers a different route, not brute-force struggle, but letting go and trusting.
