Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 18, Verse 45

Devoted each to his own duty, man attains the highest perfection. How engaged in his own duty, he attains perfection, that hear.

Real perfection is tied here to fulfilling one's own actual nature, not to switching to someone else's.

Krishna doesn't rank one role above another as the real path to perfection, he names faithful performance of whichever role fits as sufficient. Real fit matters more than real prestige.
